I look for places where two canals join or where a culvert allows water to drain from a lake into a canal. Yes, they'll take live shiners, but small plugs and spoons will work as well. A buddy of mine says that if a peacock drove a car, it would be a bright colored low rider with loud mufflers. Forget all of those slow moving plastic worm tactics that work so well for bass. Unlike largemouths that bite early in the day or just before dark, peacocks are most active right in the middle of the day. They were chosen for stocking here years ago because they can't survive winter water temperatures outside our area.

Peacocks are in every canal, pond, and lake down here, mostly in Dade and Broward counties. Here's peacock forum member lemaymiami caught and released a few weeks back on a leadhead with a Gulp tail.
